In Book 1 we learnt the sounds of the alphabet, but we only learnt one way to spell that sound. Now students will learn all the spelling variations for the consonant and short vowel sounds contained in Book 1. For example, in Lesson 1, ‘e’ as in egg, we learn that ‘e’ as in egg can also be spelt in a number of different ways, such as ‘ea’ as in head or ‘ie’ as in friend. By the end of the Book 4 students will learn just about spelling variation for every sound in English and will have mastered the Alphabetic Code.
